Tuition and Mandatory Fees:
The University of Oregon (UO) has a standard tuition and fee schedule set each year by the State Board of Higher Education. That schedule includes a number of different types of charges. All of the fees listed below are mandatory. The standard assessment includes the following:
TUITION: The amount a student is charged per credit hour for instruction cost. The non-resident student pays the full cost of instruction and the resident student pays a lesser amount that is partially subsidized by the State of Oregon. A tuition estimator (per term) is available on the Registrar’s office website at: http://registrar.uoregon.edu/common/costs.htm
Mandatory Fees Include:
BUILDING FEE: This fee is allocated to cover a portion of the costs for maintaining the grounds and buildings on campus at the U of O.
HEALTH SERVICE FEE: This fee provides the student access to a full service Health Center on campus. This includes low cost office visits, reduced pharmacy rates, lab work and other medical services. It does not include insurance.
INCIDENTAL FEES: This fee covers the cost of running the student government and numerous student groups who submit budget requests each year. The most visible benefit a student receives from this fee includes, free athletic tickets, and free bus service throughout Lane County.
REC CENTER BOND FEE: This fee is being used to retire the debt incurred to build and renovate the Student Rec Center. This fee was approved by students in an election in 1997.
RESOURCE FEES: A Resource fee is a mandatory enrollment fee assessed to students admitted to, or generally understood to be enrolled in a specific school, college, department or degree program.
MATRICULATION FEE: All admitted students also pay a one-time Matriculation Fee at the beginning of their first term at the University of Oregon. For Undergraduate and Graduate students the fee is $250. This fee covers student orientation, late registration, transcripts, change of program, degree application and re-enrollment fees. It was implemented in the Fall of 1998 to replace the individual costs associated with fees listed previously.
