Welcome to the University of Oregon FIS data warehouse page.

The University of Oregon's FIS Data Warehouse is a repository of summarized Banner FIS data from closed fiscal periods. The FIS Data Warehouse contains Grant, OPAL and General Ledger information, along with other associated data. It is updated at the close of each fiscal period, immediately after payroll has been posted. Please note -- the FIS Data Warehouse is not Banner FIS! It is similar to FIS, however, in that it allows users to submit queries, create spreadsheet files and produce printed reports of UO financial data.

Here are some of the functional ways that Banner FIS differs from the FIS Data Warehouse:

The FIS Data Warehouse enables you to tailor queries to suit your needs, then save them for future use. In contrast, FIS queries are limited to whatever the online forms will allow.

The FIS Data Warehouse provides a much better means of summarizing large amounts of data, letting you include or exclude groups of transactions (such as OPE) as necessary.

The FIS Data Warehouse allows you to view data from many different points of reference. For example, you can retrieve query results in terms of indexes or fund types, something you can't do with FIS.

The FIS Data Warehouse has sophisticated reporting tools not available in FIS.

The FIS Data Warehouse does not store transaction detail. That type of information can only be obtained from FIS.

The FIS Data Warehouse is query-only. All data entry must be done in FIS.

The FIS Data Warehouse is updated once a month, at the close of the fiscal period. If you need up-to-the-minute information, you must get it from FIS.

Because the FIS Data Warehouse contains summarized FIS data, you need to learn how to use Banner FIS first. If you aren't already familiar with FIS, see the FIS Training Home page to find out when the next hands-on training sessions are scheduled. You must obtain permission to use the FIS Data Warehouse, even if you are already a Banner FIS user.

Note: The Business Affairs Office offers only limited support for the FIS Data Warehouse. This is a complex tool that is not geared toward typical campus users. It is in no way a shortcut or a substitute for using the FIS system.
