If your UO Federal Perkins Loan or your UO Student Loan are past due, a hold will be placed on your transcripts and access to registering for classes will be blocked. To clear the holds, all due amounts must be paid. If you are not able to remit full payment as due, contact the Student Loans Department to discuss payment arrangements. If satisfactory payment arrangements are made, transcripts may be released directly to a prospective employer. Transcripts will not be released directly to you until the account(s) have been paid current. Registration blocks may also be released based on consistent, satisfactory partial payment arrangements.
Defaulted Perkins Loans will also make you ineligible for ANY new Federal Financial Aid, at ANY school. This includes Federal Perkins Loans, Federal Direct or Federal Family Education Loans, Pell Grants, Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants. It may be possible to re-establish eligibility without paying the full amount due, but generally the account must be paid completely up to date.
