Exceptional Item or Collection

Do I have an Exceptional Item or Collection that Warrants Additional Insurance Coverage?

Exceptional Items are specific types of personal property or collections a department may own or have in its possession that may not be covered through our regular insurance coverage. It is up to the departments to recognize that they have such items in their possession and contact the Risk Management Coordinator to get additional insurance.

Answer the following questions to determine if you have an exceptional item:

Yes No
1. Is the item historical (for example, original papers, artifacts, and memorabilia)?
2. Does the high market value come from the item's authenticity, rarity, or age?
3. Is the item a collectible?
4. Does the high market value come form the item's popularity (for example, collectors desiring to possess them)?
5. Do people hold the item for appreciation or transfer of wealth?
6. Is the item a works of art? (These include art owned by the state and art on loan to the state for display.)
